Memorial Day Weekend - May 2011

We celebrated our Memorial Day weekend at Grand Lake with the family. We love spending time at the lake and Shepherd sure loves to swim, ride on the boat and now fish!

Shepherd caught his very first fish! Not sure why he is crying.

There was a terrible tornado that just missed our lake house the week before. Many of our neighbors lost parts of their homes and boat docs. We were very blessed!

Happy Boy!

Shepherd's Second Birthday - May 21st 2011

First Camping Trip - May 2011

Taylor and I love to camp! We enjoy the outdoors and sleeping under the stars. We decided to introduce camping to Shepherd this month before it gets too hot. We set the tent up in the living room and let him play in it for several days. We got camping books from the library and read what camping was all about. And then we planned a big camping trip! Friday night, Shepherd and Daddy were going to camp in the backyard! Shepherd was very excited and here are some pictures that capture our evening.

Now it is time for smores!

Shepherd's favorite: Sitting in the tent eating Cheeto's

Taylor and Shepherd did not make it through the night. They actually only lasted 25 minutes in the backyard. Shepherd was so excited that he could not go to sleep. He just wanted to jump on his daddy in the tent. We put him to bed and he was out immediately!

May 2011

May arrived, bringing beautiful weather after the long and cold winter. Here are some pictures that capture the month!

A dear friend, Sarah Barnett Pense, kicked off the month with a beautiful wedding. We are so excited for her and Jason.

My little sister Ali graduated college, we are so proud of you!

Shepherd started showing interest in potty training so the adventure began. He was just a week shy of his second birthday when we started training. The very first day of potty training went like this: I put Shepherd out in the backyard, diaper free and explained to him that he could go pee pee in the grass. I turned my back on him, heard him run in the house and ran in to get him As I opened the door, I heard him say, "poo poo mama" and when I stepped in the house, I felt my foot squish upon the carpet. Yuck! I was very thankful that I had shoes on and that I own a good steam vac!

Shepherd was growing very fond of his new brother.
